Immeasurably More Than All We Ask or Imagine
When I began writing Getting the Church Inside You, my hope was simple. I wanted to help believers read Paul’s letter to the Ephesians in a way that connects doctrine with daily life. My prayer was that readers would see the gospel not only as something we believe, but something we live.
Over the past week something unexpected happened. The book briefly reached #1 Best Seller in Amazon’s “Paul’s Letters” category. I told Ray about it and he said, “You better screenshot that.” I did, and I’m glad I did, because it didn’t stay there long!
I’m deeply grateful to so many friends, church members, and ministry partners who have supported the book, shared it with others, and prayed for this project.
Moments like this remind me of the words Paul writes in Ephesians: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20)
Notice where that power operates. Paul says God’s power is “at work within us.” That means the church becomes powerful when the life of Christ begins shaping the lives of ordinary believers.
God takes our small offerings of faith, obedience, and service and often does more through them than we ever expected.
That is really the heart behind this book. The goal is not simply to read about the church. The goal is to let the life of Christ shape us so deeply that the church begins to live through us.
And when that happens, God often does more than we imagined.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for working beyond what we imagine. Help us not simply attend church but embody the life of Christ in the world. Let Your power work within us so that others see Your grace through our lives.
