Giving Thanks for Every Good Gift

As we conclude Thanksgiving weekend, I find myself noticing the quiet, steady ways God has been at work. In the middle of edits, cover concepts, website building, and everyday life, it is easy to rush past grace without stopping to name it. Thanksgiving gives us a chance to slow down and say, “I see it, Lord. Thank You.”

Paul’s words in Ephesians feel especially fitting right now:

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3)

 And later:

“I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.” (Ephesians 1:16)

Paul gives thanks for people and for God’s blessings in Christ. He remembers faces, stories, and churches by name. Then he lifts his eyes and remembers the larger story of grace that holds them all together.

I am doing the same this week. I am thanking God for you, for your prayers, for your encouragement, and for the way you are walking with me as Getting the Church Inside You: Balancing Faith and Action moves closer to publication. I am also thanking God for every spiritual blessing we share in Christ, even while our lives feel unfinished and in process.

Gratitude does not require everything to be perfect. It simply recognizes that God is present and generous in the middle of our imperfect days.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for every good gift You have given in Christ. Thank You for the people who walk with me in faith, for the blessings I see, and for the ones I easily overlook. Open my eyes to Your generosity this week, and help me live with a grateful heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.

One question:

What is one specific gift from God that you want to thank Him for this week?
