Glimpses of God’s Work in Progress

This week, I saw the cover of my book for the first time.

I did not hold it in my hands. I did not turn pages or smell fresh ink. I simply saw it. And somehow, that was enough to stop me in my tracks.

There is something about seeing something we imagine becoming reality. It reminded me that much of God’s work in our lives begins that way. Long before something is finished, long before it is fully formed, God allows us glimpses of what He is shaping.

Knowing that Lisa and I worked together to shape this concept made the moment even more meaningful. By the grace of God, our partnership has been the greatest gift of my life and ministry. Like so many blessings, this one has grown out of learning to submit to one another out of reverence for Christ (Ephesians 5:21). What emerged on the cover reflects not just a book, but years of shared faith, prayer, patience, and trust.

For a long time, I have preached, taught, prayed, scribbled notes, rewritten chapters, and trusted that the words of Ephesians were doing their quiet work in me before they ever reached anyone else. Seeing the cover felt like watching something invisible become visible. It reminded me that God often finishes His work slowly and faithfully, in ways we cannot rush.

Getting the Church Inside You will be available from Kharis Publishing on February 27, 2026, with preorders opening before then. Finalizing the cover art is just one step toward completion, but it was a meaningful one.

Prayer:
Gracious God, thank You for the ways You let us glimpse Your work before it is finished. Teach us patience as You shape what we cannot yet fully see. Help us trust Your timing and remain faithful in the quiet, unseen places. Amen.

One question:
Where might God be inviting you to trust His work, even though you can only see part of the picture right now?
