One Coherent Story in Christ
Dr. Gus Reyes thoughtfully described Getting the Church Inside You as “a path leading to the intersection of God’s purpose, plan, and practice for believers.” I love that image because it captures something Paul keeps pressing in his letter to the Ephesians: faith is not meant to live in fragments. God is drawing our beliefs, our daily lives, and our shared calling into one coherent story in Christ.
Paul writes, “He made known to us the mystery of his will…to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.” (Ephesians 1:9-10)
This is the larger horizon of the Christian life. God is not merely offering private spiritual comfort. He is revealing His purpose to gather what is scattered and heal what is divided. Our personal faith, our church life, and even the broken places of the world are being drawn toward unity under Jesus.
Notice where this movement begins. It does not start with self-improvement or religious productivity. It begins with God making His will known. We are invited into a story already unfolding, where belief is meant to shape practice and faith is meant to be lived, not merely held.
Getting the church inside us means learning to live at that intersection Gus describes. We begin to see our everyday obedience, our acts of love, and even our struggles as part of God’s larger reconciling work. When we trust that God is bringing all things together in Christ, our faith becomes steadier, our hope grows deeper, and our lives take on a purpose beyond ourselves.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for making known the mystery of Your will. Draw our beliefs and our daily lives together under Your reign. Help us live at the intersection of Your purpose, Your plan, and Your practice, trusting that You are bringing all things together in You. Amen.
One question:
Where is God inviting you to live more fully at the intersection of belief and daily practice?
